Apple TV 4K: UHD resolution, HDR + and DolbyVision at no extra price

Finally, Apple’s TV solution also receives 4K and HDR support. As previously rumored, the fifth Apple TV generation now also offers the current TV standards and supports not only HDR10 but also DolbyVision.

Also about the new Apple TV, there were already rumors and leaks weeks ago, which turned out to be correct. The powerful Apple A10X fusion chip, which was introduced for the first time this year in the new iPad Pro models, now drives the fifth Apple TV generation. This allows Apple to offer its TV box customers 4K quality with correspondingly high-quality televisions and beamers. Even more quality with the higher resolution is due to High Dynamic Range (HDR) possible, Apple supports right from the start, the competing standards HDR10 as well as DolbyVision. However, the standard HDR10 + promised by Samsung this year was not mentioned.

What was also surprised more than the device itself during the launch event is the announcement of 4K films in iTunes that would be available in the future for the same price as the 1080p format. Also, the full-HD purchased films should be “upgradable” in the future to 4K. With 4K support from Netflix, Amazon and Co. is expected in the near future. Apple’s TV app, which will also offer live sports in addition to the games and film repertoire, will also be available at the end of the year in many countries across the world, unfortunately, Austria is not among them. As of September 15, the new Apple TV 4K will be shown and it will be delivered on September 22nd. With 32 GB memory, it costs $199, and with 64 GB $219. Obviously, 64GB version is a better option.
