Although it has been a little quiet regarding the Windows 10 for ARM systems, first corresponding systems are to be delivered already this year.
After the last few months, Microsoft has confirmed that MSPoweruser will be the first to launch Windows 10 ARMs later this year, with OEMs such as Lenovo, Asus, and HP. At least Lenovo has already announced that it intends to deliver products in 2018.
More detailed device details are still unknown at the time, most likely they are cheap notebooks and tablets. In addition, Microsoft specifically refers to LTE-enabled devices – because, for example, Qualcomm CPUs bring mobile radio modems to the overall package, but this is not a surprise.
The presentation, published during the Build Conference, shows Windows 10 ARM is almost an identical variant of the operating system – including taskbar, Edge, and full USB support.
Much more exciting: Microsoft in the video once again clearly shows that usual 32-bit applications should run problem-free and completely without developer-side adjustment. For example, a version of the free unpacking program 7Zip loaded from the Internet works without problems, Windows also promises an almost native speed.
Although it is nothing as emulation, which however should work so well that users do not notice any difference to the native execution. For Microsoft, the feature is likely to be a high priority: The Surface RT experiment with ARM processors has failed because of the lack of software support – now the integrated emulation makes it possible to offer very favorable systems with full 32-bit support.
